About Me
I'm a counsellor and a writer and I see them as parts of a whole.
I write and I if people feel attracted to writing then I encourage them to use it as part of their counselling experience.
People have used writing to help themselves, express their feelings and create art for milennia and before that the sharing of stories orally was a fundamental part of humanity.
I'm fascinated by the power of stories and the way they can bring us healing, growth and happiness.
My love of both writing and counselling go back a long way.
I loved writing at school and as an adult had several short stories published in literary journals.
After graduating from with a Social Work degree I spent 15 years working in child, adult and family services, eventually specialising in child protection.
After the rigours of working in that area I needed shift and I needed to explore and heal myself so I took
a Masters of Creative Writing.
With a mix of writing and counselling I then launched into designing courses and teaching writing for Community Colleges, Not for Profit organisations and the Quest for Life Foundation.
I'm now finishing my first novel and then moving onto a biography/memoir of my mother's life.
